So – the big news is that I bought a Canon 40D over the weekend, which I’m (still) very excited about. I’ve been wanting to upgrade for a while, and I managed to pick a second hand 40D up for a reasonable price, which is especially good as I’ve just booked at a trip to the very picturesque city of Istanbul for a few weeks time.
To celebrate I went down to Chelsea Bridge last night with the 40D and my tripod to take some long exposure shots, which I have been meaning to do for a while. I spent about an hour down there around sunset and, while I managed to pick up this funky image, I did learn a few important lessons while I was there, most notably:
1. My Slick Sprint Pro isn’t as stable as I thought it was. I now believe all those websites who said heavier is better..
2. I need my remote shutter release to arrive pronto – C’mon ebay!
3. The controls in manual mode are very different between the 40D and the 350D and I should have read the manual before I went out
On the whole though, lots of fun and once that my shutter release has arrived and I’ve read my manual I hope to do some more long exposure shots in the near future.

Hi Nick,
Good luck with your new camera, I think I may be the person who bought your old 350d off you on ebay!
Cheers, Rob.
